Executive Coaching for Local Government Leaders
Helping Directors, Assistant Directors and Statutory Officers lead through change with clarity, confidence and resilience
Confidential, one-to-one coaching from a former local government Deputy Chief Executive
About Me
As a former local government Deputy Chief Executive, Chartered Fellow of the CIPD and qualified coach, I understand the political, organisational and personal realities of senior leadership—particularly during periods of change and transformation.
I know what it feels like to lead through uncertainty while supporting your teams, elected members and communities. Senior leadership can be demanding and, at times, isolating. Maintaining your own resilience while meeting the needs of everyone around you is not always easy.
My coaching provides a confidential and trusted space in which you can step back, think clearly, increase your confidence and make well-considered decisions. When so much of your role involves supporting others, making time for your own reflection and development becomes even more important.
I help clients to:
- Lead confidently through change and uncertainty
- Navigate political and organisational complexity
- Recognise their distinctive strengths and contribution
- Develop resilient, high-performing leadership behaviours
- Prepare for executive roles, interviews and selection processes
- Rediscover confidence, energy and enjoyment in their work

The People I Work With
Much of my work comes through recommendation and word of mouth. I am trusted by chief executives and senior HR professionals to support their most senior leaders.
Many clients return for further coaching as their responsibilities, circumstances or career aspirations change. I also work closely with the East Midlands Coaching Network.
We are likely to work well together if you:
- Take personal responsibility for your development
- Are prepared to engage openly in a supportive coaching relationship
- Are receptive to challenge and willing to consider change
- Want a coach who will work alongside you while encouraging you to think for yourself
- Are willing to explore issues through my ACE approach: Action, Cognition and Emotion
Working Together
Sessions last between 60 and 90 minutes, depending on your requirements, and usually take place online every four to six weeks.
Coaching works best as a shared commitment. I ask clients to complete a short preparation form a couple of days before each session. This helps us make the best use of our time and allows me to undertake any relevant research beforehand.
I believe that the greatest value comes from developing a trusting coaching relationship, so I normally work with clients for a minimum of four sessions.
Where coaching is funded by an organisation, it can be helpful to agree broad development goals with the client’s manager at the outset. The content of coaching sessions remains confidential and client-led, within the professional boundaries agreed at the beginning of the relationship.
